The CEIGRAM was created in 2007 as a Joint Research Center of the UPM and is currently constituted between the UPM itself, the State Agricultural Insurance Entity (ENESA) and AGROSEGURO.

CEIGRAM intends to be a world reference center in R&D specialized in the management of risks, both productive, market and environmental, that threaten agriculture, food and the environment, offering innovative solutions obtained through the development of research and generation of knowledge, to achieve a more sustainable agriculture by increasing the role of agricultural insurance as a fundamental instrument of stability.

Moreover, CEIGRAM's activity is also aligned with the European Green Deal, through which it is intended to transform the EU into an efficient economy in the use of resources and competitive, committed to the fight against climate change and environmental degradation of the environment, which are a real threat facing not only the EU but also the rest of the world. In this approach, CEIGRAM's research activity must contribute and strengthen the implementation of an action plan based on promoting the efficient use of resources through the transition to a clean and circular economy, in the restoration of biodiversity and in the reduction of pollution.
